A prompt from a friend, ten words to use in poem. A poem of hope. Trust me, it’s there, I put it in, not on purpose, but it is there… you know i don’t plan these things, they just find themselves being typed. You can forgive me tossing in another poem, can’t you? It is short.
Finally Came
In used car
at boarded fruit stand
so broke
and tired
you said
I watched you
smile as snow drifts
freshened by plows
turned your gray
to reflected light
finally.

Now, back inward for a few hours, no, back to work. That is what I was doing.
Life and death go hand in hand. My friend, C, just lost her mother, this very morning. Like for many of us who have watched death approach and take hold of someone we love with all our hearts, it was both expected and a shock to her entire being.
I was honored to share in many emailed conversations with C. Today when she emailed, she added a sentence designed to make me feel good about being me… I could only shake my head and think, “You gotta love her.”
