Apartment Hunting
An afternoon with Leon, always fun, well, except when it is not. Today was fun. Don’t know what it is about us and crummy windows, I really don’t. Found an apartment that we could make work, third floor, in a quiet area — ON THE BEACH. And this beach is so much prettier than the two we go to down here, though no fun shops or restaurants or anything. The building (other than some condo’s windows) is beautifully maintained!
We can squeeze a sitting area AND our desks if we are creative enough, and NO window shakers! No need to drag chairs to the beach this winter, they are already there for us.
I don’t do elevators outside in the FL heat in lightning season, so the stairs and I would have to become good friends… but I honestly don’t know if i could take the heat climbing the stairs, it really does bother me.
Leon would have to do the laundry, because the onsite laundry is not air conditioned and the dryers are not vented outdoors. Hello, y’all, this is Florida! He has to do it now that summer has kicked in anyway, even the laundromat we use that is air conditioned gets too hot for me. At least in the new apartment, Leon could run back upstairs for a break. He’s willing!
I have a problem with the windows not sealing well and us paying the A/C — but at least it is not a huge apartment. The other one we went to see, we turned around and left, an old motel, not kept up well.
The other good thing is that the drive from the interstate is not through a depressing area.
A phone call may be in order.
