Happy Birthday, Leon

Oh Leon, it’s your birthday, I know, you already know.

Gee, only 59, that isn’t even an important birthday, grin. I debated telling the rest of the world how wonderful you are, you did say once, “Do NOT put me on a pedestal.”

I never once considered revealing your lack of flaws, though. Everyone has flaws, who on earth would believe you didn’t? But at least they are few enough to keep track of, grin…. (Yes, I am laughing hysterically, but then, what else would you expect?)

I never once considered showing them the still well-developed biceps and forearms (can’t remember the name of that muscle), after all, you don’t like to show off and I would prefer not to give you reason for online retaliation.

I couldn’t tell them all the hysterically funny (and quick) responses you give on an almost daily basis, only because I can’t remember the exact wording once I’ve heard them, and we all know I like details to be correct. Besides, I always mess up your jokes in the retelling.

Now, I could tell them all you do for me, but that would be way too long a post, actually multiple posts, and, besides, I have hinted at some of that before. You know they remember those things, because you probably got a few men in trouble for not doing the same.

So, instead, I will just say, Happy Birthday, Leon! I adore you!

But I will post a photo that will bring back great memories to both of us, our stops at Starbucks in Leavenworth on our way to and from jobs in Eastern Washington.

OK, so it was not always Starbucks that made you smile like that, more like my shutting up because you agreed to stop….

P.S. Remember 114 years old will be here sooner than you think, and just because you are special - and it is your birthday - and 55 more years of putting up with each other - I’m actually going to get off this computer and wash dishes and clean something - just to make you smile. I’m sure I can get something done in the next two hours, though I am hungry, maybe I should have a snack first, oops, I never ate lunch. Could it be I am following in someone else’s footsteps? Guess I will have to work faster - after lunch.

Happy upcoming 60th year!

Flexible Upload Rocks!

I think, of the Plugins I use, this is my favorite. There is a problem when you upload to Wordpress 2.6, but the solution is in the comments in this forum! In a hurry, skip down to the comment with the red code in it and start reading there, but keep reading, there is more in the next several comments to get the entire fix.

I’ve been uploading photos using it for some time, and I uploaded this one after I updated to Wordpress 2.6 this morning.

Ups and Downs, Normal Life

Our extra walk on the beach Saturday night turned into a we may not go back again: Fire Ants in the pathway from the condo down to the beach… and one bit Leon - though he did not react to just one, but had it been more he would have been in trouble. That is the first fire ants we have seen going to the beach since we moved down here. I was already missing the foothills of the Cascades, now I really do, the beach at early morning and late evening is the only thing I like down here.

Sunday we drove 50 plus miles to IKEA to look for a TV stand, found one he liked that I could have in the house (solid wood). I wanted more industrial, but he gives in to me on so much, it was his turn, I felt.

We got tons of exercise walking, a nice byproduct. None to be found in the bins and when I asked they said if they weren’t there, they had none. I asked if we could purchase one of FOUR of the same stand that were on display upstairs (Isn’t that overkill?) - Again, told against company policy. Being out did not frustrate me, not being allowed to purchase a display model when there were two within two feet of each other did.

But it was arriving home and seeing them listed as being in stock that set my mood.

Now, what are the chances Leon would get called to a client’s and have to drive right by IKEA today?
Who knows, but he was. I just spoke with the nicest customer service rep, she said there are twenty in stock now. Will Leon get there in time?

And the biggest question, now that Leon is turning into a Mac fan… will he give in and buy us both Apple iPhone 3Gs? If you haven’t yet seen what it does, that link has demos.

Leon’s been a tease about it recently. The day we were at the Apple store when I said I wanted to be in that line (for the phone), he said, “Go ahead, get in that line if you want to be in it. I’ll buy the memory card we came for and when I’m done, I’ll come get you out of line.”

Funny, Leon. Now, do I settle for the 8G or sweet talk for the 16G? I have a feeling I better settle for whatever is offered at this point, though I can always hope for a salesman at the top of his craft doing a convincing job on my behalf!
