Slow Progress
Leon is so busy with work, three out of four of our great new chairs are still in boxes, the freezer door has not yet been removed so we can clean the bottom, we have not yet found a table, or lamps, and kitchen boxes remain unpacked.
But our desks, filing cabinets, and bookcase are put together and in use; the mattress is off the floor; closets are almost filled to capacity; food is in cabinets; clothes are hung up.
We know the closest breakfast and lunch restaurants, have read restaurant reviews, found grocery stores and laundromats. We have checked out the beaches, met a few neighbors, and in spite of the boxes around us, gotten back into everyday life.
We are slow at doing it, in part, because of commute time for Leon; in part, because we don’t have to rush, we have no children at home to rush for; in part, because we have stopped a few times to just enjoy the beach or breakfast out. Those first days, clutter was easily ignored. Yesterday, I was ready to have it behind me.
So, on to the kitchen.
And yes, rooms are not used entirely as normal people would. Was it my convincing arguments? Was it his need for self-preservation? Was it merely fatigue on his part from my onslaught of ideas? Was it just a spouse doing something nice for his wife?
Only Leon knows for sure.
