Instincts or negative thinking?
How DO you know which is which?
I suppose if you never have instincts at all, then you could bet your paycheck on negative thinking. But — a big one — if you are quite an instinctive person, sometimes it is hard to tell the difference — I mean IF negative thinking crept in unbidden. You would naturally assume it was your instinct telling you not to do something.
Now, if you are also a first rate procrastinator, the distinction must be made even harder….
I can vouch for all of this!
Of course, I can, also, vouch for this: Perhaps, had said person, having knowledge of this negative outcome, made SOME attempt to circumvent it — like try to email again or pick up the phone or something… the results may have been different…
Yeah, procrastination, negative thinking, and instincts - a pain in the old behind to possibly possess all three in one mind, but it makes for a few interesting days.

Don’t. Though I wouldn’t blame you if you do. All the talk about positive energy and going for what you want… I have a hard time wishing for stuff like, say a million dollars. Of course, I may be different than y’all, since my mind works a bit like this:
Me: I’m wishing for it!
Myself: No, you can’t, then X won’t get it.
I: We both deserve it.
Myself: X deserves it, too. What makes you so outright* special?
I: We are ALL special.
Myself: Then why should you get it over X?
I: Why should X get it over me?
Myself: Maybe X will do more good with the money.
Me: Well, just maybe I will do better with it.
Before you know it y and b and the rest of the English language alphabet are all equal partners in this exchange. And not long after the Spanish alphabet would join in since I happen to know it!
Imagine if this positive thinking, secret stuff was foolproof — this planet couldn’t support all that would be asked for and, of course, deserved. I think the world would implode.
But then, it could be like everything else: He who wishes in best form or is the best at strong arming others out of the way will get the million first… but how long before someone wishes and deserves it more?
*Of course, that is not the word that would be in my head, but…

Any time you swim against the tide…. it is going to be hard.
If you know someone more than just “kind of” honest…. then know they are expending a heck of a lot of effort to push against the tide.
Th question is not so much why they would expend that much effort, obviously it is either a keen sense of right and wrong, or just plain stupidity, depending on from where they are viewed, but if they will be strong enough to get there without sinking into either the black hole of despair or just climb on the supposedly life raft of less than honest… I’d hate to do the statistics on that one, but then I opted for Trigonometry rather than a Statistics class.. so statistics don’t mean a thing to me anyway.
