Something to ponder - and a GREAT meeting of minds

Posted at 8:26 pm under Life Balance, Poetry or Short Fiction, Rave

Untitled as of yet…

There comes a time
we must say goodbye
to the person(s)

we were

we never became

we never wanted to be

we never thought we could be.

One at a time
we can handle

but losing them all
becomes too much
especially when
there is no more we
to step in to fill the void
left behind.

No, I am not saying goodbye to myself and it is not one thing that provoked these thoughts, but several things going on in people I have known or know. I tried to come up with a title for this, but my muse failed me. I’ve always wondered if thoughts like this go on in the minds of Alzheimer’s patients at some point, perhaps because my Dad had it and our much younger neighbor, and now, perhaps, a friend’s mother. That said, this poem is not just about dementia, but self-realizations as people grow older or too set in their ways to strive for more, or they are prevented in another matter from being.

P.S. For those of you that don’t read my poetry blog, I am MeeAugraphie… Please, respect my copyright on all words and photos. (Unless otherwise stated, they are mine.)

Now that that sunk in, on to the fun stuff
! Leon and I were lucky enough today to meet three bloggers: all who are artistic in one way or the other, and all who are wonderfully nice people and so easy to talk to! (They must be nice to put up with Leon and I harassing each other!)

We didn’t just get to pass them in the street, say in deep and proper voices, “How do you do?”. Nope, we got to spend three hours under a patio roof eating and talking (in between the motorcycles making their presence known on this gorgeous day). It was a wonderful afternoon (although I talked too much… I do go overboard at times) and Leon chose today to let them know just how spoiled I am — without telling them I haven’t ALWAYS been!

Now, let me give you hints. One blogger makes awesome cards on a regular basis. One blogger writes awesome poetry with a bit of attitude that we all wish we could bring out in our poetry at times, and is writing her first book, draft done, and I got to have a sneak peek! And yes, I will be in line waiting for it. One blogger writes awesome poetry with passion and compassion and has already published his first book, which I have read and Leon is reading next. You may wish you had, too! Now, some of you already figured out who we were lucky enough to spend time with today. Yep, Brian, Rose, and Diane.

So, follow the links above (their names) and browse their blogs if you have not yet become acquainted. Brian has an excerpt from his book and he and Rose both have poetry on many things, readable poetry. Diane has photos of her cards that can’t help but make you wish you had made them or received them - and cats, oh yeah, she has three of them! There is more than that on all of them, though. Check it out.

Good morning Marcia. Thanks for putting up with us for three hours. ;) We had a great time and really enjoyed listening to you and Leon banter. I wasn’t sure if I came across strong enough, or if you could tell the difference, but it was fun. I liked sharing my book draft with you, I hope you thought it was good.

I’ll get better at picking up the nuances between the two of you, Rose… I am in line to get your book, and I don’t collect many books to keep, but I will keep yours! (Translated, good!)

Thanks for seeing us Marcia. We had a great time. Last night though, we had to put one of our cats to sleep.

Brian, I am so sorry. I responded on your blog before I saw this.
