You can’t go home…
or can you? Not that we ever considered South Florida home really the four years we were here. But, we had found a couple of restaurants that we could at least have a decent salad or sushi (for his royal highness).
We went back to the town of Sunrise to a Thai restaurant that had a great sushi chef, splurged to celebrate Leon’s first two deals signed. Of course, he had to eat an entire Boat; he had only had sushi twice in the three years since we left. They were making more vegetarian dishes than before, so I was equally glad to be back. They did NOT let us down. OK, my conclusion: You can go home!
Lunchtime today, we headed down to Miramar to a small Italian restaurant we used to have quick lunches at close to his office. We walked in at the height of lunch. Though Saturday, and a holiday weekend, we expected SOMEONE else to be there. Hmm. Then I made a mistake and ordered something different: Eggplant Parmigiana sub. I don’t love them, but wanted something to stick to my ribs, I was overtired and needed heavy food. It sucked. I am known for eating less than perfect food that Leon would turn his nose at, yet I don’t think I have ever disliked something so much. I ate some of the cheese, a tad bit of the bread, nearly gagged on the awful tasting eggplant. (Was it really eggplant?) The French fries were even awful… and I could live on French fries. Not those. Did I send it back? Nope, I was afraid to try anything else. MY conclusion: You can’t go home!
And yes, Leon offered to take me to get something somewhere else, but I didn’t want to see food a while. But now…
… after our beach walk for an hour we are going to eat a ridiculous amount of Emeril’s all natural pasta sauce: ROASTED GAAAHLIC with the addition of green pepper and onion, over spaghetti with broccoli and cauliflower — because we had that stuff left from Christmas dinner. Since there is no exhaust fan in this kitchen…. the gaaahlic will be here forever, grin.
An almost normal day to be followed by a normal evening: Dinner in front of the imac watching a DVD since we have yet to get a TV or cable. Leon doesn’t miss TV much because he has an extensive DVD collection — and can watch them repeatedly…. I can’t…. but tonight is a new movie - to me.. “Notes on a Scandal” There better not be anything gross in it. Or Emeril’s sauce may say, BAM!

So.. how was the “notes…” movie?
Marcia.
Oh thats too bad you didn’t send it back! I would have instantly! I don’t eat out very often and when I do…I look forward to good food!
Now…that spaghetti sounds like my cup of tea! I love pasta in any shape or form but it has to be ‘al dente’..and many restaurant’s don’t get that!
Hope the movie was good!
Here’s wishing you & Leon, a Healthy, happy & prosperous New Year with many good memories and laughs along the way.
I look forward to many years of reading your blog! Cheers from cold Canada!
You could ask Madd for some good restaurants. I know Boston’s is good.
I was trying to think how you would watch a DVD w/o a TV. How big is the screen on your computer?
