Updates and Blogger RANT

Posted at 11:24 pm under Rant, banter

Updates:

1. I couldn’t get into finishing NaNoWriMo this time, I was having too much fun having Leon home so much! But, I like where I was going with my novel, so some day, I will finish it.

2. The beach right before sunset, even though it was setting on the opposite coast, was so beautiful tonight. Cool breezes (I know, it is Florida, but it was perfect weather, not hot.) Of course, I forgot the camera and saw a plane that I swear flew between two high rises.

Rant:

1. What is going on with Blogger comments? Why can we no longer leave a link to our blog when we comment if we don’t have a Blogger ID? Are Wordpress bloggers now personae non gratis? Or am I missing something?

From checking around..I hear tell that others are having problems as well with blogger…as for NaNoWriMo…there is always next year…and you’ve already got a good start. Enjoy the sunset!’

Matty, I guess Blogger wants to be just a one way street… As for the sunsets… we are so enjoying the beach. We went to another one tonight and walked for over and hour, then fed the parking meter again and bought ice cream.. and walked around looking at the Christmas lights. It is such a beautiful little area.

There’s always next year for NaNoWriMo! You had so much going on and so many distractions that I think it’s great you even got a start and have something you can build on. I chickened out when I discovered NaBloPoMo as it seemed easier.

I’m not real certain what’s going on with Blogger either. A couple of weeks ago they introduced the option to get further comments sent to your email, I guess so you can follow a comments conversation or some such thing. The “Nickname” option appeared in the last 72 hours and with it the ‘other’ option vanished. Who knows what’s up. Since Blogger is part of the Google umbrella it’s anyone’s guess. You may just have to start leaving a link to your site as a signature… I know…. what a pain.

Too bad you didn’t have your camera with you, that would have been a really cool shot!

Harlekwin, I forgot my camera again tonight, and the Christmas lights were up on the beach area — just gorgeous. I can’t wait to go back with the camera.

I don’t know what Blogger is doing… it is confusing.

    That’s an understatement, Shelby.

If you would like to see this feature put back visit

    http://help.blogger.com/?page=contact

Choose “Suggest a feature” from the choices & request they put it back.

This has upset many bloggers. Though they may be introducing open ID that does not help us who have self hosted blogs.

Thank you, Rose, so much for taking the time to make this response. I did go to Blogger Draft and saw just how many complaints were there! They are going to be their own undoing. It is such a shame… There is/was a lot of good things about Blogger.

(Ps- Nice to see you commenting on my blog)

Marcia, I think the fact that you moved cross-country and set up a new house w/o your stuff and then had to wait for Leon to pass his tests, excuses you from writing. Don’t let it happen again. :P

I was the first to comment on the new B%*@%& attempt to censor comments. Leave a permalink like this.

You put it in words I could relate to, Rose. the B%, etc… I make up my own excuses as I go for some things… I get so lost reading and thinking and scheming and planning. I’ll try to be more responsible, try. :P

Marcia … you know I can’t stand that aspect of blogger. I don’t know why Google hasn’t opened up that platform since they bought it and made it better like everything else they do. Everyone should go Wordpress!

Oh Damien, I know well how you feel about Blogger. You express yourself well, grin. It is a shame for a company that has as much talent behind the scenes as they do to mess up something like they did the comments.

You mean that new “nickname” crap they came up with for blogger? Yeah, that sucks. I’m not a fan. And I’m on blogger! There are times I don’t want to sign out of my person gmail account, so I’d use my name and type in a link: I can’t do that any longer. Frustrating! I wish I’d known back before I switched to the “new blogger” about wordpress: Now I can’t switch or I’d lose everything. It’s still tempting though…
