So, you had a bad day,

get over it. Shake it off. Stop whining. Count your blessings.

Or:

  • you could stomp your feet
  • punch the air (no people or animals, y’all)
  • scream
  • laugh a fake laugh until you either cry or laugh hysterically
  • eat ice cream or French Fries until you are half sick
  • write a letter in anger (and tear it up)
  • sing a song with not so nice words substituted
  • write a blog entry that just rants and raves

  • Or, you could watch a movie that is so beautiful or so sad it brings tears, and let all
the frustration come out with that
    .

Yeah, cry it out, then moan about your sinus headache… although that does sound better than breaking your fist accidentally or just holding it all inside until you explode.

No, I didn’t have a bad day, actually a pretty good one, but:

    • the frustration of the house still on the market
    • the state not yet finishing Leon’s application so he can take the exam and start work
    • the cute young girl in our apartments with her boyfriends outside at all hours of the night and LOUD, although unintentionally so, and then letting the door slam — and we are sleeping in the room closest to her door. Guess we will move furniture around again tomorrow
    • the bathroom pocket door sometimes jumping the track in such a wonderfully creative way that even Leon with his brute strength struggles to correct it - and I just know I am going to forget and close it when he isn’t here and be stuck in there for hours with no food or laptop to keep me occupied
    • the frustration that my change of medical insurance I made on the 14th is still not updated, so I had to spend over 200 I didn’t have last week and Leon’s doctor won’t even see him tomorrow if we don’t have the insurance straightened out. Hmm, will the benefits advocate come through in the morning?

The first two (and the last) are legitimate concerns, so to speak, and the lack of sleep is the catalyst for the whine…. but you know what? We are still running into REALLY nice people everywhere we go. What happened, Florida? Did all those hurricanes in a row those few years scare most of your population into being nice again?

Whatever it was, could it be used to improve the crazy drivers down here?

    In the meantime!

    • I am lucky we have insurance at all, especially such good insurance
    • the hot weather has only caused me to miss a few days of early morning walks
    • our son was just promoted to Sales Manager so now he is not just Leon’s trainer, but his boss, grin
    • our car insurance is not going up much at all to add business coverage, a pleasant surprise
    • I still adore Leon
    • he still adores me and spoils me (hey, of his own free will, y’all)
    • we even found a clean laundry with a really friendly attendant
    • we can watch DVD’s on my 20 inch imac, so we don’t miss the TV much
    • and — we found great coffee close by — and Bon Jovi is playing on iTunes right now

Yeah, happy movie watched, tears released at the babies being born, Hanky Panky playing on iTunes… can’t wait to try to fall asleep on that mattress that is not much better than the tile floors… Wonder how many times they will go outside tonight?

At least they are happy outside and not fighting… See, I am lucky!

(Do you think seeing me at my worst at 2 or 3 in the morning would scare them into quiet? It would me.)

Hope you are, too! (No, not scared quiet, lucky, I meant.)

Butterflies and Pigs, Race of the Century

Butterflies and Pigs, Race of the Century

It was a race
between butterflies and pigs,
set up by one
adventuresome magician.
Outcome, inevitable?

Pigs chased food,
lumbering about
until they paused
to wallow in mud

Butterflies flitted
from stamen to stamen
and back,
race was no concern

There were no winners,
or were there?

Happy Thanksgiving!

This will be an interesting Thanksgiving for us, we have been invited to the home of one of our son’s friends from high school, and their baby is due any second! Dilation started days ago. Hmmm.

Now it was suggested by someone, should the baby not wish to wait for his Thanksgiving dinner, we rush the food to our son’s and cook it there — if the baby was really early — or just stay at their house and have our dinner anyway - without them. Either would work.

But my daughter-in-law thought of something many wouldn’t. Why not just we go eat at a restaurant should that happen and leave the food there. Why? Because so many relatives will be driving down the next few days to see the baby. There would be plenty of food already on hand, making it quite easy for everyone to feed themselves while Mom and Dad get used to their new son.

I think I am going to love getting to know my daughter-in-law this year. I already adore our son. I think he chose his spouse quite well.

But enough about us. I hope you each have a pleasant day, a very pleasant day, and that you each find something to be thankful about. There has to be something.
