So, you had a bad day,

Posted at 12:33 am under Life Balance, abstract photo, banter, photo

get over it. Shake it off. Stop whining. Count your blessings.

Or:

  • you could stomp your feet
  • punch the air (no people or animals, y’all)
  • scream
  • laugh a fake laugh until you either cry or laugh hysterically
  • eat ice cream or French Fries until you are half sick
  • write a letter in anger (and tear it up)
  • sing a song with not so nice words substituted
  • write a blog entry that just rants and raves

  • Or, you could watch a movie that is so beautiful or so sad it brings tears, and let all
the frustration come out with that
    .

Yeah, cry it out, then moan about your sinus headache… although that does sound better than breaking your fist accidentally or just holding it all inside until you explode.

No, I didn’t have a bad day, actually a pretty good one, but:

    • the frustration of the house still on the market
    • the state not yet finishing Leon’s application so he can take the exam and start work
    • the cute young girl in our apartments with her boyfriends outside at all hours of the night and LOUD, although unintentionally so, and then letting the door slam — and we are sleeping in the room closest to her door. Guess we will move furniture around again tomorrow
    • the bathroom pocket door sometimes jumping the track in such a wonderfully creative way that even Leon with his brute strength struggles to correct it - and I just know I am going to forget and close it when he isn’t here and be stuck in there for hours with no food or laptop to keep me occupied
    • the frustration that my change of medical insurance I made on the 14th is still not updated, so I had to spend over 200 I didn’t have last week and Leon’s doctor won’t even see him tomorrow if we don’t have the insurance straightened out. Hmm, will the benefits advocate come through in the morning?

The first two (and the last) are legitimate concerns, so to speak, and the lack of sleep is the catalyst for the whine…. but you know what? We are still running into REALLY nice people everywhere we go. What happened, Florida? Did all those hurricanes in a row those few years scare most of your population into being nice again?

Whatever it was, could it be used to improve the crazy drivers down here?

    In the meantime!

    • I am lucky we have insurance at all, especially such good insurance
    • the hot weather has only caused me to miss a few days of early morning walks
    • our son was just promoted to Sales Manager so now he is not just Leon’s trainer, but his boss, grin
    • our car insurance is not going up much at all to add business coverage, a pleasant surprise
    • I still adore Leon
    • he still adores me and spoils me (hey, of his own free will, y’all)
    • we even found a clean laundry with a really friendly attendant
    • we can watch DVD’s on my 20 inch imac, so we don’t miss the TV much
    • and — we found great coffee close by — and Bon Jovi is playing on iTunes right now

Yeah, happy movie watched, tears released at the babies being born, Hanky Panky playing on iTunes… can’t wait to try to fall asleep on that mattress that is not much better than the tile floors… Wonder how many times they will go outside tonight?

At least they are happy outside and not fighting… See, I am lucky!

(Do you think seeing me at my worst at 2 or 3 in the morning would scare them into quiet? It would me.)

Hope you are, too! (No, not scared quiet, lucky, I meant.)

Way to go on positive thinking! I hope the medical crap gets worked out quickly, that stuff is serious. But it all will work out in time I am sure.

Thank you, Damien, on both accounts. It did! And, the positive stuff, that was to make up for my whining….

“. . . and — we found great coffee close by”

    Good enough. :)

Shelby, I had you in mind when I wrote that little phrase, grin.

A great post Marcia and thank you for your lovely email. I’m so glad you are settling despite all the problems. I wish you well in straightening things out, if you need help, ask Diane. She’ll fix ‘em for ya’.

I’ll remember that offer of Diane to “fix ‘em” for me, Brian. And you are welcome, your book was definitely more than worth reading!! Thank you.

Keep the eyes on the prize sweetie. It will all be worth it when you’re sitting by the pool in February sipping a cold drink. :)

    xo

My eyes are so on the prize, Rose…. and given the choice of the pool or sleeping with the sound of the ocean outside, I may just choose the ocean, I had forgotten how much I loved it, and the drink will be Tequila…

Keep focusing on the good stuff and yay for the insurance getting straightened out.

Hang in there; this is all temporary stuff.

Only temporary pains in the behind, Susan, thank you, but the goal is so worth them… and we are both trying to enjoy the moment, in spite of my once in a while whines!

Wow. With all that is going on, it is great that you remain upbeat. That laughter trick works. I usually try to find one of my favorite funny books and read the chapters that I like so I will giggle. I’m glad the patient advocate was a help. I hate insurance stuff and can never figure it out on my own.

Well, Leon is beginning to understand a whole heck of a lot about insurance, Shelly …. more than he ever wanted to know! Funny books, I must find one. Leon doesn’t seem to need one, he just laughs at me… not that I blame him at all! Thank you.
