Dear Bloggers

Posted at 10:21 am under Life Balance, abstract photo, banter

Do you ever read a blog you really love and then it just disappears or the writer stops writing? It is kind of like your favorite brand of croissants (Sarah Lee cheese croissants) disappearing from the store shelves, you know the ones that were your comfort food instead of generic ice cream or peanut butter crackers and Pepsi.

Now I’m sure our stores or Sarah Lee, whichever, those many years ago had a good reason for no longer putting them out there for me. Sure, I found other comfort foods to have with my tea: croissants, over sized glazed donuts, cinnamon rolls, monster truck size muffins, raisin nut bread, apple pie, and so on…. and some of those do the job well… but I still to this day miss my Sarah Lee cheese croissants, healthy or not. Still miss them.

Miss my favorite striped smooth cotton dishtowel that was my version of a blankie as a child, too… and… well, not much else…. I would say my thumb, that was comfort as a child, but sucking it just does not have the same effect anymore, grin.

So, you out there who are either down, busy, frustrated, sad, irritated, tired of writing, or whatever else that causes you to utter words like, “I’ll probably give up blogging….” - I understand that there are always reasons for change and I don’t have to like them, your readers don’t have to like them, you don’t have to like them…. but if this applies to you out there, whether you are someone I read already or would have or should have or will in the future — I will miss your words more than I care to admit…. Reading books is wonderful, so reading will always be there for me, but reading words of a blogger are more personal. Though a good writer in any medium can cut to a reader’s heart…. it is through a blog that the deep cuts are made….

You evoke not just regular old thought, but brilliant ideas, strong emotions, awareness of life, and most importantly, heart, but then you are entitled to explore other avenues of life than blogging…. Maybe you could squeeze in a bit of blogging now and then?

Well Marcia, I will probably post once a week with poetry.

Well, Brian, that would make me happy once a week!

Hi Marcia, I admire bloggers that can commit to posting daily. I know the more a person writes the more the words flow. I’m a slow writer, I fiddle and fuss changing words, adding and deleting and hesitate to hit the send or post key. And this is all after I’ve laboured in my mind about what I want to write about. I’m working on posting once a week and will jump for joy if I can create a post twice a week. Baby-steps.

Chris, I admire those that post daily, but with more forethought and care. We all have different personalities and different reasons for writing, as well as different styles. So many people have more to do than some of us that post a lot.. I know I am spoiled rotten in that I can write wherever and whenever I want… but it wasn’t that way when I was raising a family, working full time, and helping other family members out on a regular basis and still trying to dance. Most of y’all either have families or major responsibilities, volunteering, jobs, hobbies other than blogging. I do understand that, I don’t expect people to post all the time… but yes, the more you write, the easier the words seem to come. You are doing something I should do more of, you are writing with care, with more precision; I just free write. I do look for errors as I go, but I don’t catch enough, my mind is racing off somewhere else. You merely have a different view of writing than I do… My writing is emotional, freeing, perhaps obsessive.

I am just so glad you are writing again and blogging occasionally.
