Bantering on delivery, weather, and change

Filed under Life Balance, Rant, banter

You know that gorgeous new iMac I am scanning the horizon for? It left CA yesterday morning — and made it an hour NORTH of us (and CA is South) this morning. So, that is two hours worth of gas more than need be. And two hours never to be regained of my use time! (Somehow I don’t think that would hold up in court.) NOTE: It left Burlington at 08:05!!

On the surface it seems a waste of resources, why go North one hour to come back South another hour? But then, the reality may be it was a cheaper way to ship it, it did go ground, after all - and it has been a quick ground delivery process so far, guess there is an advantage to living out here! Perhaps that is the hub for trains up there in Burlington. It may, in reality be a savings of energy, gas, and their manpower by combining shipments.

I suppose this could be a reminder that everything is not like it seems, we need to think before we spout off.

And I hope it doesn’t get here until late afternoon — because we aren’t getting the firewire cord until late afternoon - and I refuse to tear that box off and stare at a computer I can’t start up. . .

This weekend posts will only be photos! Even if I can’t find the photo file that disappeared from my laptop, I have hundreds in the camera waiting! So, stop back Saturday afternoon or Sunday and see more of the Pacific Northwest!

Upcoming posts, now that I can scan in all the old photos that are tucked away in boxes: the memes I have not gotten to, including the one I get to moan (although I wrote it more as a rant), and the one with photos of us and our son as a child! Don’t run away! They won’t scare you — well, maybe not.

The birds are singing and doing that other thing they do that I can’t describe, the rooster in the distance has been quietly sounding off. The sky is light blue, the sun is bright behind the trees, the clouds are wispy, there is a light breeze, a few cars and it is — toward the end of July: ONLY 58 DEGREES OUTSIDE! WOO HOO!!! The cool thing about this time of the year is that the warm days keep the inside warm enough even with windows open!

Look around you, find something good about today! Change one thing in your life that you can, however tiny. I have been doing that. I have done a bit of housework, a bit more than usual that is, for the past week. Still not enough, but I am tearing myself away from the laptop a bit here and there. (I suppose tearing myself away from my laptop and sitting in front of the larger monitor next week won’t count?)

The universe is playing games

The tracking shows my new iMac left FedEx in CA this morning at 07:33. . . So, what do you think drove down my long culdesac at 15:02, came back and slowed in front of my house? A FedEx Express truck. Now I now he didn’t drive all the way from CA in those few hours just to give me my computer, but a woman can dream, right? He paused between our house and the neighbors’, beneath the shade of a tree, and shut off his engine. He must just be on break. I can only shake my head at the distraction. However, had he not parked there I would have missed the quick glimpse twice of a bird that had bright yellow on his wings. I have never seen one before. Of course, the other truck could be driving it up from the tiny airport. . . hahahaha. I was content to wait since my charger is suddenly working much better today — do you think the universe helped with that? Causing it to act up enough that we ordered the new computer so this one could get a breather now and then?

I don’t think so either, but it might make a good science fiction story and I have never written one. Maybe later.

He just started his engine, will he back up? Was he just messing with me knowing I was waiting, although, couldn’t set it up anyway without Leon’s muscles — the ones attached to his arms and shoulders, not the ones in his head. (Did I just write that?) (j/k, Leon)

NO! He just drove away. Such a tease. THIS IS NOT A JOKE! The truck just went back down our street — seriously! I mean it wasn’t even a minute. Same truck? This does feel like science fiction now, or the twilight zone. I rarely see them on our road.

Whether a different truck or not, he better not slow down again in front of my house. I know they are on tight schedules, I would have to play universe myself and not answer the door until he had walked all the way almost back to his truck, after leaving the note and trying to make it stay on the old decrepit door that we have a new one ready and waiting in the wings (the garage, really). See how that messes with his schedule!

Oh, you are waiting on a package, too? And, you are saying that I will then mess up your schedule? You must be younger than me, wait for it! OK, fun over, he just drove by, barely even stopped at the stop sign. . . .

Maybe, tomorrow. Besides, they will probably send it in a big truck, being so important and all, it is, after all, an Apple!

I can’t stop being silly. . . wait, I can! There is a writing contest! I told people over at MeeAugraphie, but you may not read my poetry, though you might get a laugh from some of it. Then again you may cry.

It is a “show don’t tell” contest that Missy is having at The Incurable Disease of Writing. (isn’t that a cool blog title?) You have a bit of time left, go for it! She has all the details on a sticky post. Even a prize. Start writing, I’m entering, though I had to cast aside my first entry, but you would only know why if you read MeeAugraphie.

A wonderful nature experience!

I just returned from Leanne Wildermuth’s blog, Artist by Nature - only long enough to tell you to rush over there to read her story of witnessing the first of four baby bunnies and to see pictures of the four newborn bunnies. The story is wonderful, and if you click on the two tiniest photos in the post you will see nature that most of us never witness, not like Leanne just did. I’m so happy I didn’t miss it!

Now, I’ll be there too just wandering around at all else there, but I know I will peek at the little darlings again.
