Ok, At the count of three: one, two, three. . .
Knit, Crochet. . . only one, yes, just one, little 6 inch square in any color(s) your heart desires.
Don’t stop reading because you can’t knit of crochet! You know SOMEONE who can: your teenage daughter’s friend or neighbor or the women at the craft shop where you buy your scrap booking supplies. And what about the women that hang around at the senior citizen center and love to wile away time doing needlework. Surely they would love to kint something other than just another baby sweater or hat? Then there is your husband’s secretary’s mother or your own secretary or her best friend. Surely one of the soccer mom’s does knit or crochet? What about the women’s circle at church? Or the tennis pro at the club? And didn’t your doctor just tell you to relax more often? And did you not want to learn to do something with your hands besides cook, clean, and type?
There are 140 children that Shelly dreams of having an afghan ready and waiting for them before next summer. Not just an afghan made by one person, but one made by lots of people: 40 different people making squares and another few people crocheting it all together, etc. Isn’t that the coolest thing?
Now you could make several or more squares, but you can pace yourself. Each time 40 different squares are received she can have another one put together! So, get one done, stuff it in an envelope and mail it to her! Now, tomorrow, next week, whenever, but now would be great! Click on the link below to see the first two in progress and to see how many thousands of squares she has received, and remember, it is not a large number of squares per person that are needed, it is the different people creating them.
It is heartwarming — tell someone else, if they don’t know about it they can’t get that warm glow that comes from helping! I have it. I know you want it! So does your worst enemy, may as well tell them, too!
I had no idea the afghan would be so beautiful. . .
