In the Clouds - Just tagging away
I know, it is the middle of summer! But, this picture cooled me off for a moment or two. The day has been one of breeze, clouds, and sunshine. I sit upstairs at eye level with the tree canopy, yet nearly strain my neck to look up at the giant trees across the street. With windows wide open I can hear all the signs of life around me.
I punch holes in tags, cut yarn for ties, tie double bows as each tag is attached to a square for Share A Square. Some would say it is tedious, but it isn’t - for I am the lucky one that gets to marvel at each woman’s square, at how varied the color choices are, at how artistic they have been:
- A square of beautiful pastels and white that make you think of babies with their little feet kicking out, their fingers balled into tiny fists.
- A square of neon orange or green.
- A square that reminds me of Christmas.
- A square of lovely muted colors that evokes stories of sitting on the floor watching their grandmother crochet as stories are told and memories made.
- A square of deep rich colors.
- A square of white variegated with pastels that reminds me of a baby sweater my mother-in-law made for our son - nearly 30 years ago.
- A square that mixes solid deep colors with variegated that reminds me of a stained glass window.
- A square of bold contrasting colors that says summer fun.
- A square of different values of the same color.
- A square of. . . well, if I keep writing this, I will never get the other 60 or so tagged!
No, it is not tedious! It is an excuse to do something other than obsess over the computer; it is an excuse to feel texture and cut and tie and . . .
. . . it is a connection to human beings doing darn good.
Now, I have had as much human connection as I can take, grin, so I am off to the cold basement to watch the rest of the Nascar race while I tie more bows! But those squares won’t be ignored, I don’t keep my eyes glued to the race, I get so caught up in the squares, Leon has to remind me I just missed something great and to put the squares down and watch!
Are you crocheting or knitting? What about emailing someone else that does?
Share A Square update page!
Only the good photo will return either later tonight or tomorrow. I reversed the order today.
